The practices healthy people do every morning

When it comes to taking control of your health there are a few habits that active people commonly include in their morning routine. So what are the practices healthy people do each morning?

Despite what we tell ourselves, it does not take drastic action to become healthy.

Instead it just takes simple little habits performed repeatedly over time like drinking a glass of water, planning your day, or walking.

You may not notice the change right away, but if you continue to strengthen your willpower by doing these little healthy habits every morning you’ll notice a big difference over the months and years.

Morning Habit #1: Drink a Glass of Water

3 Practices Healthy People Do Every MorningThe first habit that will help you get your morning started right is to drink a glass of water. You’ll want to drink at least 8 ounces–maybe more if you feel especially thirsty.

Remember, your body has gone 6-8 hours without water. When you’re dehydrated it’s difficult to focus your mind. Hydrating yourself first thing in the morning is a great way to think more clearly about your day ahead.

Speaking of thinking clearly about your day ahead…

Morning Habit #2: Plan Your Day

The next important morning habit is planning your day. Some people actually prefer to do this the evening before, but either way this should be one of the first things you do before beginning work.

It’s amazing how much just writing a simple plan can prevent the most important tasks of the day from slipping through the cracks!

If we don’t have a clear plan we tend to get sucked into a reactive mode of thinking where we are “putting out fires” rather than proactively directing our day. Living in a reactive mode cause us to feel “stressed out.”

Your mind and body are strongly connected. Just like exercising your body can make your mind feel good, it works the other way around as well: a healthy mind is key to a healthy body.

Morning Habit #3: Exercise

One of the best ways to reduce stress are morning workouts. Specifically, you want to focus on exercises that release a lot of endorphins such as running.

If you think that you’re unable to exercise every day, just remind yourself that our grandparents used to get up at 4:30 every morning to do farm chores. Talk about physical exercise!

Fortunately, we don’t have to as much hard labor as many of our ancestors did, but we now face an opposite problem where our sedentary lifestyles make it difficult to get enough physical activity to stay health.

If you find yourself struggling to start a morning exercise routine, start with something simple. Even walking just 30 minutes a day is a great way to help reduce diseases and even grow new brain cells!

Wrap-Up

Do you see what I mean about simple healthy habits? The actual tasks don’t need to be difficult.

The key is to just keep the chain going.

Start with something as simple as drinking a glass of water as soon as you wake up. Once you get that down, start planning your day ahead of time instead of rushing into it.

Then, as part of your daily plan, include going on a 30 minute walk while you prepare for your day.

So put these simple habits into use and it will become easier and easier to start adding all those other healthy lifestyle habits you would like to do.
