Best Treadmills Under $1000: The breakdown
Do you want the best treadmill but don’t have the cash? A treadmill would be perfect for those cold winter months, but still many of us simply don’t have the funds. There have to be other options, right? Check out Consumers Advocate for an updated list of treadmill reviews. We got a great expert to come in and share a few of the best treadmills under $1000. Can you budget that?
Chris Twiggs, the Director of Galloway Training and International Programs, stopped by once again to help us out with a few treadmill reviews! He was instrumental in our distance running article and he didn’t let us down this time either (aka go check him out)! Here’s his breakdown:
Treadmill Reviews: Fit it into your budget
Sure, plenty of runners head out into all sorts of weather to get their miles in, but most of us have a limit, a point when the snow builds up, the rain comes down, or the daylight hours are filled with work.
So it’s nice to have an indoor option for burning calories and getting those endorphins.
The list below goes over our favorite treadmills under $1000! Make sure to read our recommendations.
It’s extra-nice when that option doesn’t break the bank. If you are on a budget check out these treadmills!
The No-Frills choice:
Stamina InMotion Manual Treadmill
At just over $100, this manual treadmill is quiet, folds away easily, and offers a great workout for walkers and light joggers.
If you are just getting back into the swing of exercise and not quite ready to hit up the gym or run outside, this might be an economical option to help you build your strength and exercise capacity!

The Home Gym choice:
Pro-Form Performance 400I
At $599, this Bluetooth-enabled, motorized treadmill has everything you need to train for that fast 5k (up to 10mph) or that hilly marathon (up to 10% incline).
Featuring an integrated tablet holder, you can download a route using the iFit app, and the treadmill will automatically adjust the incline while your tablet shows you the route.
Pro-Form offers a Boston Marathon version of this treadmill with the route built-in, but that’s cost you quite a bit more.
This treadmill offers a great way to start to take your training to the next level!
Available from Pro-Form
The Home Office winner:
NordicTrack Treadmill Desk
When it comes to treadmill reviews, walking desks are all the rage! Walking desks are a stealthy way to get in a workout and make sure you get your “steps” in. The NordicTrack Treadmill Desk has an integrated desktop display to let you know how far you have gone and how fast you are going.
The built-in USB charging station keeps your devices charged, and when you’re done with work, the treadmill folds up and out of the way.
This desk will run you $999, so it barely qualifies as a budget machine, but since you’ll get more work done, it’ll pay for itself in no time.
Available from NordicTrack
The Non-budget Out of the Box choice:
ZR7 by Octane Fitness
We are going to break form for a second because we wanted to show you the Cadillac of “treadmills”, even though it’s not technically a treadmill. It’s not one of the best treadmills under $1000 – it’s just one of the best! The ZR7, or ZeroRunner, is not exactly a treadmill.
It’s not exactly an elliptical, either, It’s what would happen if the best treadmill and the best elliptical decided to settle down and start a family [awesome analogy].
“Zero” refers to zero impact, since your feet never leave the platform, but unlike a typical elliptical machine, the Zero’s “legs” bend like knees to allow you to “run” normally.
Perfect for cross-training days, recovery runs, or non-impact workouts for injured athletes and weekend warriors, the ZR7 will run you $3,299.
Available from Octane Fitness
