Chunky Chocolate Protein Shake

This Chunky Chocolate Protein Shake is not only tasty, but healthy, too! It’s filled with ingredients to both replenish your fuel and boost your nutrient intake.
Organic cacao powder makes this smoothie taste like chocolate (without all the processed sugar, of course) as well as gives you a big antioxidant hit. In fact, cacao (not cocoa) has been shown to have even more calcium than cow’s milk! Cacao can be used in any chocolate recipe, like this one for cupcakes or this one for a berry mix.
Adding in the almond butter gives this protein shake a dose of healthy fats and at the same time keeps the texture creamy.
Really, this chocolate shake is both healthy and indulgent… and you skip the sugar high!
- 1 banana, frozen
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 5 ice cubes
- 3 tablespoons raw cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- 1 date
- 1/4 cup oats
- 3/4 cups almond milk
Chunky Chocolate Shake Directions
In a blender, combine everything but the almond milk.
Pour milk over top.
Blend on high until combined and smooth.
You may need to use a tamper as the smoothie is thick.
Note: If you don’t have a powerful blender, you may want to chop the bananas before blending them!
Makes one large smoothie or two small ones.
