How The Hell Did I End Up Here? How to Change Your Life

how to change your life

Making Change Happen: We’ve all been there

We’ve all come to that point where you stop and ask yourself,

How in the Hell did I get here? What did I do wrong? How can I try so damn hard only to get nowhere? Is it me? Why…am…I…cursed?

Whether it is your career, relationships, or health, sometimes we work our butts off and still can’t find the success we desire… That kills an ego. Are you ready to start making change happen?

Let’s start making change happen

It can also happen because of our bad choices. For instance, it can start with skipping breakfast which can snowball into raiding the office vending machine for a mid-morning snack.

Do that enough and the next thing you know you are standing in front of the mirror saying, “What the F#@k happened?” It happens. Your weight catches up to your busy life or your stress level catches up to your busy career…Which can all lead to an emotional breakdown or worse!

Hey, sometimes we all need a good cry.

Life can be hard but you can turn it around. When you’re so close to giving up remember these three methods for turning it around and getting incrementally closer to your goals!

Action, Action, Action

One of the most debilitating mentalities that can keep you stuck in a rut is the “hope mentality”. The mentality is where you sure “hope” things will get better. How are they going to get better if you don’t change anything? To “hope” things will get better but not taking any action is lunacy.

To create the change you must act. Hope is a lovely notion but when it comes to making changes in your life you aren’t going to be able to “hope” change into occurring.

Don’t hope your way to change. Change your way to change.

One Foot In Front of the Other

How the Hell Did I End Up Here Making Change HappenWhen things seem bad you just have to keep going and making changes for the better. In the famous words of Winter in Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town:

You never will get where you’re going
If ya never get up on your feet.
Come on, there’s a good tailwind blowin’
A fast-walking man is hard to beat.

If you want to change your direction,
If your time of life is at hand,
Well, don’t be the rule, be the exception
A good way to start is to stand.

(Yes… I just quoted a Christmas movie because it was relevant!)

Don’t stop when things are down. Don’t stop when you can’t reach your weight loss goals. Don’t stop when things look stacked against you. Have a good cry, get up, get pissed, and move forward.

Even the smallest steps forward are better than sitting on the sideline!

Go Big or Go Home

Sometimes when crap seems so turned against you and you make change after change but still don’t get anywhere, maybe it’s time for a shakeup. Sometimes we need some help, guidance, or even a swift kick in the ass.

I’m talking about making big changes when you need to change your direction.

Maybe that big change can be hiring a personal trainer to get you going. It could be going to see a psychiatrist get your head straight – constant negative thoughts aren’t healthy. It could even be getting on a program that is more geared towards your time constraints and your exercise capacity.

Sometimes you just need a big change for a simple change of mental scenery… That can go a long way in helping you put your mind to succeeding!

Whatever it is, you may need to make a big change to get re-motivated and re-focused.

Wrap-Up

At the end of the day, we all need to get our heads straight and start making change happen. If you don’t have a healthy mental mindset, how can you be completely healthy on the outside?

When things seem bad and everything seems stacked against you, remember to get up and take action… “One foot in front of the other!”

Because a fast walking man is hard to beat!
